The one rig's villager again, the same MakeHuman body in the same clothes, moved by layers that make it read as alive rather than by the spike's hand-written gait curve. Its feet are planted where they bear weight and reached by the legs through IK, so they never slide; the pelvis carries over the foot that bears, bobs low as both feet are down and high over the planted one, turns with the stride and drops on the swinging side, and the spine turns the shoulders against it; the arms swing against the legs on springs, so they drag, the forearm later than the upper arm; the shoulders and the head ride the bob a beat late; it breathes; and its head and eyes go to whatever it is looking at. Standing, it shifts its weight from leg to leg, lifts the free foot now and then to set it down elsewhere, looks about, and falls into an idle pose its temper picks, each on its own timing. Every villager draws its cadence, its stride, its sway and its timings from its own seed, so a crowd given one order never moves as one. The motion runs at sixty steps a second and is shown stepped at the drawing rate.
The same villager from the side, going across the ground at its own speed, at 2×. A mark is left where each foot is set down, blue the left and red the right; a foot that slid would smear its mark, and the speed slider shows the stride lengthening and quickening together.
The same body framed from the chest up at a hundred and twelve pixels square and twelve drawings a second, its face moved by whatever sound is playing. The sound is cut into windows of 1024 samples; each gives a loudness, measured against the voice's own recent peak, and where its energy sits: the band of the first resonance, roughly 250 to 950 Hz, sets how far the jaw goes, the band of the second, 900 to 2600 Hz, spreads the mouth when it is high and rounds it when it is low, and energy above 3.5 kHz with little under it is a hiss said through nearly closed teeth. Silence closes the lips. A pause of a quarter second ends a phrase; a new phrase lifts the brows, often turns the eyes away from the listener and brings a blink, and the eyes come back in the pauses. The mood sets the brows, the lids and the corners of the mouth. Play the line, any sound file of your own, or speak into the microphone.
Twelve drawings in a row at the drawing rate, at facings 0°, 60°, 120° and 180°, at 2×, each row from the same villager walking.
Every one of them told the same thing, to walk at 1.2 metres a second or to stand. Each is its own villager with its own seed, cadence, stride, phase and drawing clock, so no two step, sway or shift together.
MakeHuman's body, skeleton, weights, targets, topologies and eyes are CC0. The voice is credited under the close-up and in NOTES.md beside this page.
